Mr. G.R. (Rik) Bergman is the President of the Integrity Chamber of Sint Maarten, appointed by Kingdom Decree in January 2024 to serve a three-year term.

Holding a Master’s Degree in Civil Law from the University of Utrecht and certified as a professional mediator, Mr. Bergman brings over 25 years of expertise in law and mediation. He pioneered the practice of mediation in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, becoming Sint Maarten’s first licensed mediator and setting a precedent for conflict resolution in the region.

As former Dean of the Sint Maarten Bar Association, he championed unity within the legal community and worked to elevate the professionalism of its members. His contributions extended beyond the legal sphere: in his role as British Honorary Consul, Mr. Bergman fostered international relations, while his involvement in numerous foundations and public causes underscored his dedication to civic engagement.

For twelve years, he served as a member of the Council of Advice of Sint Maarten, offering guidance on matters of governance and policy. Upon his appointment as President of the Integrity Chamber, he stepped down from the Council to fully embrace his new responsibilities.

Today, Mr. Bergman continues to serve on several boards, particularly in the fields of health and education, reflecting his enduring commitment to public service and community development. His career stands as a testament to integrity, leadership, and a lifelong devotion to strengthening the institutions and people of Sint Maarten.
